Participation Report of 7th Asian Network of Research Resource Centers International Meeting ~ Connecting Dots to New Frontiers ~ Songdo Convensia, Incheon, Korea September 16th to 18th, 2015.

The 7th Asian Network of Research Resource Centers (ANRRC) international meeting was held in Songdo Convensia, Incheon, Korea September 16th to 18th, 2015, hosted by the Dr. Yeonhee LEE (Director General of Korea National Research Resources Center: KNRRC). ANRRC (President, Dr. Yuichi OBATA: Director of RIKEN BioResource Center) was established in 2009 to promote science, technology and innovation in Asia.

There were 183 participants from various Asian repositories in 14 countries. There were 44 oral and 61 poster presentations.

In the Plenary Lectures, Dr. Obata (President, ANRRC), Dr. Ja-Lok KU (Korean Cell Line Bank, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Korea), and Dr. LEE (KNRRC, Seoul Women’s University, Korea) spoke. The main topics were on the quality management of the resource and the role of the resource centers.

In oral Sessions, 44 presentations and active discussion were made on the following topics:
Session 1. Biodiversity: The Nagoya Protocol
Session 2. Standardization: Biobanking
Session 3. China-Korea Joint Seminar: Hydrobiology
Session 4. Biobanking: the Human Tissues
Session 5. Collection and Extraction: Banking of Various Resources (plants, animal, and microbial resources).
Session 6.Non-biological Resources/ Industrial Applications: Chemical Compounds
Session 7. Information Management: Preservation and Use of the Resource Information
Session 8. Methodology:New Methods for the Storage of the Resources and the Bank of the Useful Bioresources Specific to Each Country.

Four committee meetings (IT, Biodiversity, Biobanking, and International Affairs) were also held, and the future issues of each subject were discussed.

Best Poster Award was established in this Meeting. Out of the 61 poster presenters, the ANRRC Board members selected Dr. Daham JEONG in the Microbial Carbohydrate Resource Bank, Konkuk University, Korea and Dr. Rikiya ENDOH, Contract Researcher in the Microbe Division/Japan Collection of Microorganisms, RIKEN BRC as the winners for their posters entitled "Cyclosophoraose/cellulose hydrogels as a drug delivery system" and "Toward establishment of a unique yeast culture collection", respectively.

The following items were decided in the Executive Board Meeting.
Dr. Shuang-Jiang LIU was elected a vice-president of ANRRC and it was proposed that he will be the next president of ANRRC.
Dr. OBATA was asked to extend his term for one more year by the board members and he accepted.
Dr. Chu Hoang HA(Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Vietnam)was elected as new Board Members and approved.
The next annual meeting will be held in Japan hosted by the Dr. Yuji KOHARA (National Institute of Genetics, Japan).
